Matt Dillon stars as a gambler J.C. Cullen, a small-town country boy who goes to Chicago to try his luck. Once there he starts shooting dice for a husband and wife team but is itching to try his luck in the big backroom games hosted by bad guy Cole. Eventually he gets in on the game but by that stage he has fallen for Cole's beautiful wife and is gambling with his life.
