Child psychologist Mary (Naomi Watts) is trying to put her life back together after losing her husband in a car accident, which left her teenage son (Charlie Heaton) in a coma. Soon after she starts seeing a new patient, Tom, a little boy grieving after his mother's death, but he goes missing during a winter storm and is presumed to be dead.
