Product Description
Another dollop of animated mirth and mayhem with the
cheese-loving inventor Wallace (voice of Peter Sallis) and his
long-suffering dog Gromit. This time around, the pair have
converted their home into the 'Top Bun' bakery - complete with
rooftop windmill - but with 12 local bakers having mysteriously
gone missing, Gromit worries that they'll soon make up the
baker's dozen. Wallace meanwhile is oblivious to the danger,
having fallen head over heels for former Bake-O-Lite bread babe,
Piella Bakewell (voice of Sally Lindsay). With his master
otherwise engaged, it's up to Gromit to rise to the occasion and
solve the mystery before Wallace becomes the next victim of the
cereal killer.

Just how good is it to have
Wallace & Gromit back in their natural home?
A Matter Of Loaf and Death finds the pair back in a half hour
format, with the plasticine duo in charge of a thriving bakery.
Business is going well, and nothing could seemingly go wrong…
Only it soon does. Because A Matter Of Loaf and Death introduces
the Cereal Killer, a mysterious figure who has been killing all
of the other bakers in town. Wallace, of course, is oblivious to
all of this, going about his work with his merry asides and
gleeful naivety. And this time his faithful hound, Gromit, is too
distracted to notice any impending threat too, courtesy of his
growing attraction to another hound by the name of Fluffles. It’s
quite a recipe, and makes for a very entertaining half hour.
While A Matter Of Loaf and Death isn’t quite up to the highs of
the pair’s adventures to date, it nonetheless finds Wallace &
Gromit, and Aardman Animations, in very strong form. The level of
attention and detail here is quite astounding, and the script is
as packed with wry gags for the older viewers as it is with
material for the youngsters.
In fact, if you cut it down the middle, the words ‘family
entertainment’ would be found running right through the middle of
it. Because A Matter Of Loaf and Death not only sprinkles in lots
of laughs, at-times stunning animation and a fair amount of
storytelling, it’s genuinely entertainment that anyone can enjoy.
More, please… --Simon Brew
Synopsis
Wallace and Gromit have opened a new bakery – Top Bun – and
business is booming, not least because a deadly Cereal Killer has
murdered all the other bakers in town. Gromit is worried that
they may be the next victims, but Wallace couldn’t care – he’s
fallen head over heels in love with Piella Bakewell, former star
of the Bake-O-Lite bread commercials. So Gromit is left to run
things on his own, when he’d much rather be getting better
acquainted with Piella’s lovely pet poodle Fluffles. But then
Gromit makes a shocking discovery which points to the killer's
true identity. Can he save his master from becoming the next
baker to be butchered? And does Fluffles know more than she is
saying? It’s a classic 'who-doughnut' mystery, as four-time
Academy Award winning director Nick Park creates a hilarious new
masterpiece in the tradition of 'master of suspense' Alfred
Hitchcock.
