EPISODE 1 "THE SOURCE" Matt discovers the river's source in a field near Brackley in Northants. After a chat with a local historian in the village of Syresham, Matt arrives at Buckingham, where the 'free fishing' stretch is most productive. Then it's off downriver to Thornton to investigate a Crayfish invasion! EPISODE 2 "THE UPPER REACHES" Matt fishes for Perch at Ravenstone Mill, site of a record Barble catch. He then cycles to Olney, home of the Cowper Museum and its many river artefacts. One very big Tench later, Matt arrives in Bedford and is invited to fish the 'Roxton D' stretch. He lands some beautiful specimens before a stop at the market town of St. Neots produces a healthy young predator or two. EPISODE 3 "THE MIDDLE REACHES" Matt is near the village of Offord Cluny, where, after a lesson on pole fishing, he gets stuck into some excellent Pike and Chub. A cycle ride away we visit Godmanchester, Huntingdon and Houghton Mill. Finally, Matt swaps his bike for a boat and cruises downstream to St. Ives for some spectacular Pike fishing. EPISODE 4 "THE FENS" Matt cruises down the Great Ouse on his boat with Fens expert Ernie Hall, and learns how the fens were created. Stopping at the Twenty Pence Marina, Matt fishes for Skimmer Bream. Its then downstream to the City of Ely, with its majestic Cathedral. Matt ends the programme catching a fine selection of Great Ouse Zander. EPISODE 5 "THE LOWER GREAT OUSE" In this final episode, Matt is a guest of the King's Lynn Angling Club, and lands a respectable Tench. After leaving Denver, he fishes for Pike in a private 'Fen Drain'. Finally, he arrives at the fishing port of King's Lynn at the wash where he takes to sea to meet some shrimpers.
