Teamed with a relentlessly cheerful\nproducer (Andie MacDowell) and a smart-aleck cameraman (Chris\nElliott), TV weatherman Phil Connors (Bill Murray) is sent to\nPunxsutawney, Pennsylvania, to cover the annual Groundhog Day\nfestivities. After a surprise blizzard traps him in small-town\nhell, things get even worse; Phil wakes the next morning to find\nit’s GROUNDHOG DAY all over again… and again… and again.\n\nFrom Amazon.co.uk\n\nBill Murray does warmth in\nGroundhog Day, a romantic fantasy about a wacky weatherman forced\nto relive one strange day over and over again, until he gets it\nright. Snowed in during a road-trip expedition to watch the\nfamous groundhog encounter his shadow, Murray falls into a time\nwarp that is never explained but pays off so richly that it\ndoesn't need to be. Director Harold Ramis (who co-starred with\nMurray in\nGhostbusters) takes an absurd situation and explores its every\nimaginable comic possibility. The elaborate loop-the-loop plot\nstructure cooked up by screenwriter Danny Rubin is crystal-clear\nevery step of the way, but it is Murray's world-class reactive\ntiming that makes the jokes explode, and we end up looking\nforward to each new variation. Because none of the other\ncharacters are aware that Groundhog Day is continually repeating\nitself, Murray goes through a repertoire of responses, from\nconniving lust for Rita (Andie MacDowell) to gleeful nihilism to\na Zen resignation worthy of Buster Keaton.\nGroundhog Day manages the rare feat of producing belly laughs in\nabundance and also being genuinely wise about the human\ncondition. --\nDavid Chute, Amazon.com\nOn the DVD: the disc presents the movie in a 1.85:1 ratio and\nwith Dolby surround sound. There are trailers for Groundhog Day,\nGhostbusters and Multiplicity, along with filmographies for\nHarold Ramis, Bill Murray, Andie McDowell and Chris Elliot. This\nremastered edition also comes with an extended documentary \"The\nWeight of Time\", which offers insights into the \"European\"-style\nscript and production difficulties, but is a little over-lavish\nin its praise of the actors on set. Thought-provokingly, the\ndocumentary also touches upon the spiritual nature of the movie\nand what it has meant to an audience beyond being a simple\ncomedy. Also included here is a director’s commentary by Ramis\nwhich, although informative, has too many long breaks and would\nsurely have benefited from the addition of Bill Murray to the\nconversation. --Nikki Disney\n","brand":"Columbia Pictures","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":40679565000899,"sku":"S97953606","price":5.66,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0268\/7339\/7443\/products\/51Z9P2JCHQL._AC_US1500.jpg?v=1646204262","url":"https:\/\/atticdiscoveryshop.co.uk\/products\/groundhog-day-collectors-edition-dvd-2002-region-2-new-sealed","provider":"Attic Discovery Shop","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
